Frequently Asked Questions

What does it mean to be an Alkeme Certified therapist?

An Alkeme Certified Therapist is a licensed professional who is a part of Alkeme’s medical group either as an independent contractor or as a part-time or full-time employee. Are part of their joining our medical group, they undergo a more rigorous vetting process, which includes:

  • Background checks to ensure a safe and trustworthy provider network.
  • License verification to confirm their credentials and active standing.
  • Provider practice management support to help them deliver high-quality, culturally relevant care.

These additional steps allow us to confidently vouch for the qualifications and professionalism of Alkeme Certified therapists. Therapists who are NOT designated as Alkeme Certified are NOT a part of Alkeme’s medical group. In order for Alkeme to provide access to a broad network of therapists we list therapists who are outside of our medical group. These non-certified therapists are still licensed professionals but they have not undergone Alkeme’s additional screening and support services. Licensed therapists who want to become Alkeme Certified can apply online or email us at providers@alkemehealth.com. The process includes multiple criminal and medical background checks, license verification, and agreement to Alkeme’s practice management services. This is only available to therapists licensed in states where Alkeme has an active medical group.

How do therapists partner with Alkeme?

Therapists can join the Alkeme Network for $25/month or $250/annual, gaining directory access and marketing support to attract clients. In states where Alkeme is licensed, we offer practice management support at no additional monthly/annual fee, handling insurance, billing, and admin tasks so therapists can focus on care.

How do I submit claims?

You do not need to submit claims to insurers when working with Alkeme. Our therapists get paid by entering the relevant session codes and hitting send. Alkeme takes care of invoicing your clients and collecting copays and you are paid within 2 weeks of the session.

What if I’m already credentialed with Alkeme’s insurance partners?

Therapists need to be credentialed under Alkeme’s Tax ID, regardless of their current individual credential status. Once you’ve been credentialed under Alkeme's Tax ID, you can add your eligible clients to the Alkeme portal to access our rates for their sessions.

Am I required to take insurance?

When working with Alkeme you can choose to benefit only from our listing service, or to experience the benefits of full practice management. When only utilizing our listing service, it is not a requirement that therapists take insurance. However, in order to use our full practice management we require that therapists get credentialed with at least one of our payer partners. We only compensate providers for sessions run under Alkeme’s Tax ID.

Can I join Alkeme with a limited license?

Alkeme’s Practice Management service is only available to clinicians who are fully licensed in the state of Illinois (including multi-state licensed therapists). However, Alkeme’s Directory Listing service is available to therapists in all states and licensure levels.
