"Black Generational Health Is The Goal”: This Former NFL Player Launched A Mental Wellness Platform After Facing Depression Following A Career-Ending Injury
Ryan Mundy, a former NFL player, launched Alkeme, a mental wellness platform designed to support the Black community. After facing depression post-retirement, Mundy sought holistic solutions, leading to the creation of Alkeme, which offers courses, guided meditation, and expert-led workshops tailored to the Black experience. Inspired by The Alchemist, Mundy is on a mission to help the community overcome limiting beliefs and fill health access gaps.
Three years after launching, Alkeme partnered with McDonald's to provide all 2023 McDonald’s Black & Positively Golden Scholars (McDonald’s HBCU scholarship program) with a year-long mental health workshop series focused on their unique experience and personal growth.
Mundy said, "We want to empower our community to be the best and highest versions of themselves, and that is why we are honored to partner with McDonald’s to help remove mental health barriers for HBCU students and provide resources to inspire wellness.”
